happenAre you ready to have some fun and change the trajectory of your life at the same time?! If you have heard of Oprah Winfrey, then you probably have either heard of or seen a vision board. Oprah has given credit to vision boards for years in helping her manifest the many successes in her life. I like Oprah, believe in the power a vision board holds in manifesting your hearts desires. Over the past ten years, I have successfully used vision boards as a way of setting my intentions into the universe. And believe me, it works!

Last year, one of my intentions was to become a Huffington Post blogger. I wrote it on my vision board and placed the board up in my office so it was in my line of vision every single day. Each day, I looked at my board envisioning the different things I had listed coming into my life. I kept those visuals in my head like small snapshots in my future’s photo album pulling them up anytime I wanted to feel joy and inspiration. I prepared and then let the universe do it’s work trusting that all would happen in perfect timing.

Now, let’s fast forward to a month or so ago. I gave it a shot. I wrote and submitted an essay for Rita Wilson’s new initiative, “Voices of Strength” (part of the Huffington Post)_focusing on women’s survival stories.. A few weeks later, at the end of a particularly grueling day, I heard the chime of my inbox letting me know I had a message. When I opened it, there beaming back at me was a message from the Huffington Post! I had been chosen as 1 out of 5 women from over 500 entries! THE Huffington Post was asking if I’d like to be featured! You can only imagine my immediate answer…

I share this story to encourage you to try doing your own vision board. Find a spiritual partner or friend to make your board with. Make it fun, and get ready to be totally transfixed by the blessings you will receive.

How to Make Your Board

Here is what you will need to get started:
• A large piece of poster board paper
• A black or colored Sharpie
• A few magazines for inspiration (Pick what jumps out at you from the stand. If you want to travel more, get a travel magazine. If you want to get married, get a bridal magazine. If money is your focus, get a money magazine. You get the point.)
• A glue stick
• A glass of wine (optional of course)
• Chocolate (not optional)
• Goals and dreams
• A corkboard (also optional, because my poster board is usually completely full. I can use it to tack up ideas and lists.)

What I do is look through the magazines and cut out words and pictures that speak to me. I also save mementos throughout the year that I intend to add to my board like: vacation brochures, hotel keys, fortune cookies, quotes and etc. On one side, I write down a list of my goals. In the middle, I fill the board with the photos and mementos that inspire me. On the final side, I leave a place where I write down all of the wonderful blessings that come to fruition during the year.

This has now become a family affair in the Babul household. It is something we look forward to every year. I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for all of us!
