1 in 3 women have been the victim of sexual assault or harassment.

1 in 3 women are fatherless.

Although the 2 are not mutually exclusive the silence can be. In our society, women are taught to be ashamed of things that happen TO them. In the sometimes brainwashed mentality of our society we often blame the victim first. I believe this has a lot to do with why, we as fatherless daughters, tend to keep our emotions of loss, shame and guilt to ourselves when it comes to fatherlessness. You Don’t Have to Always Wear the Cape

As women we are expected to be strong. As fatherless daughters, we place the expectation on ourselves to be almost superhuman. We want to be ALL things for ourselves and for others. We do this because we have been let down. Life has shown us that in order to protect ourselves we have to wear the cape.

It can be exhausting and will eventually wear us completely down. The beautiful thing is…you don’t have to do it all. You can let others in. You can ask for help. We have developed a tribe to help us all shelter the pain. We encourage you to learn more about yourself here. Understand the good and the bad. Know your triggers and how to best use them to your advantage. You have the unique ability to turn your pain into power, but it is also okay to take a day off sometime.
